Editorial Design
I have been honing my editorial design skills for almost 10 years. While art director for Tribeza Magazine, I attended, directed and styled editorial photoshoots and designed each issue of the magazine in its entirety. As a Lead Designer for ADWEEK I worked cross-departmentally in both the Branded Content Studio and on the famous 52-year-old print publication. My primary responsibilities were to design sponsored immersive stories and guides as well as design articles and covers for the magazine.

While art director for Tribeza, I was essentially the entire creative department. I attended, directed and styled editorial photoshoots, designed each issue of the magazine, obtained and placed all ads, created every piece of collateral for all events the magazine produced and much more. I managed interns from The University of Texas each semester and worked with the digital media manager to create social assets to promote both the magazine and our events.

Kristin’s Column

Kristin Armstrong has been writing a column for Tribeza for years. Each month an illustration accompanies her column and I had such fun art directing the illustrative work for her column the two years I worked at the magazine. I collaborated with insanely talented illustrators including Krista Perry, Hannah-Michelle Bayley, Whitney Avra, RF Alvarez, Jessica Fontenot and Kristin Moore.

All that Glitters
BY LAUREN JONES PHOTOGRAPHYS BY ALEXANDRA VALENTI
All that Glitters was the cover story for the September 2019 issue of Tribeza. This issue was the first issue that implemented the latest cover re-design of the 20-year-old publication that I spearheaded. The stunning photos of model Nicole Trunfino taken by Alexandra Valenti were so full of grace and movement I knew I wanted the design to play off that. I used a font that mimicked Nicole’s poses and played up the white space to make the photos shine.
House Beautiful
BY JESS ARCHER PHOTOGRAPHYS BY LEONID FURMANSKY
For the 2019 Architecture Issue, Tribeza featured the historic Darnall House in West Austin designed by Arthur Fehr and Charles Granger Jr. The editor-in-chief at the time, Margaret Williams, procured the original blueprints from the home as well as some photos that were taken shortly after the home was built in the late 1930s. We knew we wanted to incorporate these supplemental items and play them up to show just how timeless the original design was and how thoughtful, Derek Barcinski, an architect with Atlantis Architects, restoration of the home was. I used the classic, yet modern Cooper Hewitt typeface to tie it all together.

Designed by the famous Kelly Wearstler, the Austin Proper is a stunning boutique hotel with sister hotels located in Santa Monica, Downtown LA and San Francisco.
